The management of Gombe State University (GSU) has issued an important notice to all prospective corps members concerning compliance with the Nigeria Education Reposition and Databank (NERD) policy as directed by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Headquarters, Abuja.
According to a circular from the NYSC Directorate with reference number NYSC/DHQ/M/373/VOL.3/81 dated 7th October 2025, the directive stipulates that beginning with the 2025 Batch ‘C’ mobilization exercise, only uploads accompanied by NERD clearance will be processed for NYSC mobilization.
In line with this, GSU’s NYSC Mobilization Officer, Usman Garba (PAR), on behalf of the Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Aliyu Bafeto, stated that every prospective corps member must obtain a NERD clearance slip before being permitted to register at the orientation camp.
The university further advised all prospective corps members to await further information regarding the clearance process.
The notice was copied to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, as well as other key officials including the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Bursar, Provost, Deans, Heads of Departments, Public Relations Officer, Students’ Representative Council, and was posted on the university’s notice board for wider dissemination.
