 FUNAAB RECORDS HIGHEST MATRICULATION FIGURE IN 38 YEARS

The Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta has matriculated 6,356 students for the 2025 session. The figure is the highest intake recorded since the institution was established nearly four decades ago. The announcement came from the acting head of the Directorate of Public Relations, Olasunkanmi Olajide.


The matriculation took place during the university’s 13th Commencement Lecture at the Professor Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Kehinde, described the record enrollment as a major milestone. He said the rising confidence of parents and applicants shows the university’s growing reputation.


He directed the new students to uphold discipline, dress appropriately, maintain at least 70 percent class attendance, and follow all university rules. He reassured them that the institution will protect their rights.

Professor Kehinde also restated the university’s zero tolerance for misconduct. He said student union activities on campus require dialogue and responsible leadership.


The Commencement Lecture was delivered by Professor Subuola Fasoyiro of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Obafemi Awolowo University. She spoke on the theme, Future Leaders of Character in Agriculture. She urged students to build capacity, character, and competence to make national and global impact.


She highlighted qualities needed for effective leadership including vision, strategic thinking, courage, emotional intelligence, integrity, teamwork, and resilience. She advised students to embrace clarity, commitment, capacity, character, consistency, and contribution as core principles for development.
