 OOU Declares Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr Celebration

Following the official announcement by the Federal Government of Nigeria, Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) has declared a temporary closure of academic and administrative activities in observance of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

According to a statement released by the institution’s management, Thursday, 19th March and Friday, 20th March 2026 have been approved as public holidays to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, congratulated members of the university community on witnessing this year’s Eid celebration. He also commended staff for their dedication and contributions to the growth and progress of the institution, urging them to continue upholding the values of love, sacrifice, generosity, and peaceful coexistence emphasized during Ramadan.

To enable full participation in the celebration, the university will remain closed throughout the declared holidays. However, staff on essential duties are expected to remain at their duty posts.

Normal academic and administrative activities will resume on Monday, 23rd March 2026 by 8:00 AM.

Students and staff are advised to take note of the break and use the period responsibly.
