The University of Jos (UNIJOS) has taken a decisive step to safeguard lives by suspending all scheduled examinations following rising insecurity in Jos, Plateau State. This development comes in the wake of a tragic and deadly attack in the Anguwan Rukuba area of Jos North, a community known to house a significant number of students and staff members.
According to an official statement released by the university’s management through the Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations, the Vice-Chancellor approved the immediate postponement of examinations slated for Monday, March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The move was described as a necessary precaution due to the tension and fear generated by the unfortunate incident.
The institution emphasized that the safety and well-being of its academic community remain its top priority. Students and staff have been strongly advised to remain indoors, avoid unnecessary movement—especially in the early hours—and stay highly vigilant as the situation continues to unfold.
